Mayor Harry Klein

The
City of Burbank was incorporated in 1970. Only a few decades old, we're
considered a mere babe when contrasted with other cities throughout America.
Our chronological age is misleading, however, as we can boast of being a
community that is the envy of the Southwest Suburbia.
Our greatest asset is our people. They are hard working and come from
diverse ethnic backgrounds. Their values bring pride to our community and
support our many churches, parks and schools. There's something for everyone
in Burbank. Our mature citizens enjoy a senior center, run by Stickney
Township, which includes a minivan bus transportation service. Our parks
have activities that satisfy the needs of all ages, at all times, throughout
the year. The schools, both public and private, are renowned for their
scholastic and sport excellence and our houses of worship are the
cornerstone providing moral strength and character to our 27,900 residents.
Geographically, we are blessed to be near public transportation and have
easy access to the City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Shopping
centers abound throughout our area. Our own shopping center, the Burbank
Towne mall, and hundreds of other local merchants provide convenient
shopping to our many residents.
Burbank has an excellent Fire/Paramedic and Police Department which is
second to none. Our infrastructure is continually maintained to assure that
property values continue to rise each year. The crown jewel, amid all these
services and amenities, is that Burbank has one of the lowest tax rates of
all the southwest suburban areas.
So while we're a relatively young city, we're wiser than our age and offer a
desirous place to live and raise a family.
On behalf of our fine people, the City Council and I welcome you to Burbank.
