Burbank Fire Chief
Richard Harper

Richard A.
Harper, a 27 year veteran of the Burbank Fire Department, was
sworn in May 11, 2005 at a Burbank City Council meeting as the new Fire
Chief, replacing Chief Marty Kreil.
Chief Richard Harper has been a member of the Burbank
Fire Department since 1978,
starting as a Paid-on-Call
(P.O.C)
firefighter. Chief Harper has been instrumental
throughout his career at the
Fire Department updating apparatus, developing
training programs and procuring and establishing computer equipment and
programs for the department. The Chief has been an active member in the
Fire Department holding positions in the Burbank Firemen’s Club as President and
Secretary. Chief Harper is also a member of the Burbank Fire Department's
Pension Board.
Chief Harper holds several fire service certifications as well as many
specialized training certifications. Chief Harper is also active in the fire
service on a statewide level. The Chief is a committee member of the
Illinois Terrorism Task Force, member of the Office of the State Fire
Marshal’s Ad-Hoc Committee, and is a member of the Illinois Fire Chiefs
Association. Chief Harper received his Masters Degree in Public
Administration from Governors State University. Chief Harper is a lifelong
resident of Burbank, is married and has 3 grown children.
