To Protect and
Serve

ERT (Emergency
Response
Team)
The Burbank Police Department's
ERT
was established to deal with situations within the City of Burbank which
require equipment, techniques and training which are beyond the norm for
most patrol officers.
Personnel assigned to the
ERT have other full-time assignments within
the Department. Personnel are selected from applicants based on a range of
criteria including physical fitness, firearms proficiency, and supervisory
recommendations. Members of the team receive specialized training from
several sources including local F.B.I., P.T.I (Police
Training Institute) and joint training with other
local teams.
ERT
members will deploy with other police departments in the area in times
of crisis.
Personnel on
ERT have developed proficiency in using a number of
specialized weapons and in techniques designed to increase their
efficiency and safety in dealing with unique situations.
Team members train
in scenarios which include "high-risk" entries pursuant
to search warrants, rapid deployment for school involved incidents and
vehicle assaults. In cases where there is a high potential for
violence, the ERT is utilized for the entry. The use of
this specially trained team and its members decreases the likelihood for
resistance and enhances the safety of police personnel, occupants of the
residence, and the surrounding community. Questions regarding the Burbank
ERT unit should be directed to Captain T. Klein
