The following incidents were listed among the official
reports of the Burbank Police Department. Readers are reminded that an
arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilty. Only a court
of law can determine whether an offender is guilty or not guilty of the
offence with which he or she has been charged. All court dates are for the
Cook County Courthouse in Bridgeview unless otherwise noted.
March 2010
02 March 2010 – Criminal Damage
to Property; Hit and Run Accident
James D. Dangelo M/23 yoa, LKA 5026 W. 85th Street Burbank, IL was arrested
after being involved in an altercation in the 7900 block of Harlem Avenue.
The victim related to officers that while he was walking through the parking
lot Dangelo drove his vehicle into the lot and attempted to run the victim
over. The victim was able to avoid the attempt and it was at this point in
time Dangelo exited his vehicle with a baseball bat in his hand, walked
towards the victim’s vehicle and proceeded to strike the vehicle with the
bat. Dangelo broke out the passenger side window and shattered the
windshield of the victim’s vehicle. Dangelo then re-entered his vehicle and
drove out of the lot onto Harlem Avenue. While exiting the lot Dangelo
struck a vehicle. Shortly thereafter, Dangelo was stopped by Bridgeview
Police, and was turned over to the Burbank Police Department. Dangelo was
processed and given a court date of 6 April 2010 at the Bridgeview
Courthouse.
February 2010
20 February 2010 – Criminal Damage to Property; Public Intoxication
Edgardo Cuadrado M/19 yoa, LKA 7717 S. Meade Burbank, IL was arrested after
he was observed by an officer throwing a rock into the window of a business
located in the 6300 block of West 79th Street, causing the window to break.
When the officer stopped Cuadrado he smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming
from Cuadrado’s person. Cuadrado was brought into the station and processed;
he has a 6 April 2010 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
16 February 2010- Arm Robbery,
Aggravated Battery
Michael S. Johnson M/18 yoa, LKA 6413 S. Eberhart Chicago, IL was arrested
after he robbed the Radio Shack store located in the 8000 block of Cicero
Avenue. Johnson entered the store brandishing a handgun and approached the
employees inside the store and demanded that they give him the store’s
money. While inside the store, Johnson struck one of the employees in the
face with the weapon. Once Johnson was given the money he left the scene.
The victims notified the police and were able to provide a description of
the offender. Burbank Police Department detectives who were arriving on the
scene observed a subject matching the description given entering a vehicle
in the 8200 block of Lamon Avenue. A felony stop was made on the vehicle and
Johnson was apprehended without incident. Upon conducting a search on
Johnson the weapon displayed as well as the money that was taken was
recovered by the detectives. Johnson was arrested and charged with two
counts of Arm Robbery and one count of Aggravated Battery. Johnson was
brought to a bond hearing at the Bridgeview Courthouse on 18 February 2010;
his bond was set at $250,000.00.
14 February 2010 – Assault
Nicholas Latoma M/25 yoa, LKA 298 Ingersoll, Villa Park, IL was arrested for
assault after he caused a disturbance at Durbins Lounge. Latoma began
throwing bar stools and yelling at patrons in the establishment’s beer
garden. When he was approached by security personnel, Latoma attempted to
strike them. Latoma was arrested and was given a 31 March 2010 court date at
the Bridgeview Courthouse.
10 February 2010- Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Equipment,
Public Intoxication, Warrant.
Jose D. Maldonado M/29 yoa, LKA 7750 S. Mobile, Burbank: (Pos. Cannabis,
Pos. Drug Equip., Warrant)
James M. Kall M/28 yoa, LKA 5143 S. Moody Chicago, IL (Public Intoxication)
The aforementioned subjects were arrested after they were observed in the
8600 block of Cicero Ave acting suspiciously. The subjects were approached
by officers and after a brief conversation, the officers detected a strong
odor of burnt cannabis emanating from both subjects and further observed
that both subjects were having a difficult time standing. The subjects were
placed under arrest for public intoxication and upon conducting a custodial
search on each of them, a glass pipe and a small amount of cannabis was
found on the person of Maldonado. Both subjects were brought into the
Burbank Police Department station where it was subsequently learned that
Maldonado had an active Cook County warrant for contempt of court. Both
subjects have a 03 March 2010 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
Maldonado was unable to make bond and is presently being housed at the Cook
County Jail awaiting his court date.
07 February 2010 – Arrest on
Warrant
Jamal S. Jones M/22, lka 16 W. Honeysuckle Lane, Willowbrook, IL was
arrested on a warrant after the vehicle in which he was riding as a
passenger was stopped by police in the 6600 block of West 79th Street for a
minor traffic violation. When the officer approached the vehicle he smelled
the burnt order of cannabis emanating from within the vehicle. The officer
inquired about the smell but all parties inside the vehicle denied any drug
use or possession. A name check revealed that Jones was wanted on a no-bond
warrant for violation of probation, which stemmed from a dangerous drug
arrest. The warrant was issued in Cook County. Jones was turned over to the
Cook County Sheriffs Department. Prior to being released to the Sheriff,
Jones admitted that approximately two hours prior to being arrested he had
smoked cannabis.
January 2010
21 January 2010 - Residential
Burglary
DuBoise A. Peterson M/23, lka 6644 S. Justine, Chicago, IL
Reginald E. Freeman M/18, lka 6424 S. Hermitage, Chicago, IL
Clifton Emmons M/21, lka 7032 S. Throop, Chicago, IL
Howard J. Thompson M/20, lka 1724 W. 66th Street, Chicago, IL
Parrish Wright M/18, lka 6511 S. Paulina, Chicago IL
The above mentioned subjects were arrested for residential burglary after
they broke into a home located in the 8100 block of Latrobe. During the
midday hours a neighbor noticed two of the above subjects peering into the
window of a house located across the street from her; the neighbor contacted
911 and provided information to the dispatcher which was broadcast to
responding units. Simultaneously, the homeowner arrived home and observed
the subjects leaving his residence with proceeds that were taken from
inside. The homeowner contacted 911 and advised that the subjects were
fleeing the scene eastbound through the yards of neighboring homes. Officers
who were now in the vicinity, observed a vehicle in the 8200 block of
LeClaire which contained subjects matching the descriptions that were given
by the neighbor and the homeowner. When officers conducted a traffic stop on
the vehicle, the occupants in the vehicle began throwing items out of the
window. Once the vehicle was secure it was learned that the items were
proceeds from the burglary. The offenders were all placed into custody and
after conferring with the States Attorney’s office felony charges for
Residential Burglary were brought against all five offenders. The offenders
were brought to a bond hearing on 23 January 2010 at the Bridgeview
Courthouse.
15 January 2010 – Criminal Damage
to Property
Glenn L. Hosey M/30yoa, LKA 7703 S. Central, Burbank was arrested for the
above offense after a patrol officer observed Hosey using a golf club to
strike the windshield of a vehicle belonging to Hosey’s girlfriend. During
questioning by officers, Hosey related that his actions were fueled by
suspicions that his girlfriend had cheated on him. Hosey was arrested and
appeared in bond court on 15 January at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
08 January 2010 – Criminal Trespass to Vehicle, Theft
Jose A. Granados M/20yoa, LKA 6230 S. Troy, Chicago, IL
Gonzalo Herrera Jr. M/20yoa, LKA 1913 Arbor Falls Dr., Plainfield, IL
On 13 March 2009 a vehicle was broken into at Stevenson Park and stereo
equipment was stolen from the vehicle. The crime was captured on the City of
Burbank’s camera system. While processing the scene, Burbank Police Evidence
Technicians recovered fingerprints from the scene and later sent the prints
to the Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
On 10 December 2009 Burbank Police Detectives were notified that the
recovered prints belonged to the offender Granados. Detectives located
Granados and after questioning Granados, he admitted his involvement in the
crime and provided the name of an accomplice, Herrera. Burbank Police
Detectives located Herrera and advised him that his partner had implicated
him as an accomplice to the 13 March 2009 crime. After viewing the camera
system footage of the crime, Herrera also admitted his involvement. Both
offenders were charged and were given an 11 January 2010 court date at the
Bridgeview Courthouse.
06 January 2010 – Bank Robbery
Deoquisto D. Dennis M/24 yoa, LKA in the 8500 block of S. Kilbourn, Chicago,
IL was arrested by the F.B.I. for a 22 December 2009 bank robbery which
occurred at the TCF Bank, 7900 S. Cicero, Burbank. During the robbery, a
male offender approached a teller and handed her a note announcing the
robbery. The teller handed the male offender $700.00 and he then fled the
scene. Burbank Police Detectives and the F.B.I. were able to gather
information which led to the identification of Dennis as the male offender.
The F.B.I located Dennis on 4 January 2010 in the 3300 block of West 67th
Street and took him into custody. Dennis will be prosecuted in federal
court, if convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison.
December 2009
17 December – Criminal Trespass
to Residence, Disorderly Conduct, Drunkenness)
Marek Scislowicz M/40yoa, LKA 7747 W. 81st Place, Bridgeview, IL was
arrested for the aforementioned offenses. Police were called to the home of
a Burbank resident who related that Scislowicz entered his unlocked front
door, laid down on his couch and went to sleep. Upon the officers’ arrival,
they observed Scislowicz sleeping on the couch. While officers were speaking
to Scislowicz they detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his
person. Scislowicz stated to officers that he thought he was in his own
residence. Scislowicz was transported to Christ Hospital by ambulance for
further evaluation. Scislowicz has an 11 January 2010 court date at the
Bridgeview Courthouse.
09 December – Battery (Warrant)
Darnell M. Lofton M/25yoa, LKA 3787 W. 78th Street, Chicago, IL was arrested
by Burbank Police Department Detectives on a battery warrant stemming from
an incident which occurred on 17 November 2009 at the Jewel food store
located at 79th and Cicero Avenue. On 17 November Lofton attempted to steal
two bottles of vodka from the store. When Lofton was confronted by security
personnel, Lofton struck the security officer in the face and fled the store
dropping the bottles of vodka and a manila envelope that he had in his
possession. When police arrived at the scene it was discovered that the
envelope contained Lofton’s resume which provided information as to Lofton’s
age, address and other personal information. After numerous attempts to
contact Lofton were unsuccessful, Burbank Police Detectives obtained a
warrant for Lofton’s arrest. On 9 December 2009, Chicago Police Officers
stopped Lofton in connection with an unrelated incident. When the officers
ran Lofton’s information in the computer system they discovered the
outstanding warrant for Lofton’s arrest. Lofton was turned over to the
Burbank Police Department and was processed. Lofton’s next court date is 9
February 2010 at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
08 December – Violation of City Ordinance (Failure to Provide Heat)
Maria Budz F/71yoa, LKA 6135 S. Mason, Chicago, IL was arrested under
Burbank Ordinance for failure to provide minimal heat to an apartment
building she owns in the 7800 block of Rutherford Avenue. An officer was
called to the scene by tenants of the building complaining that there was no
heat within the building. Upon the officer’s arrival he observed that the
building was extremely cold and that he could see his breath as he was
speaking to the tenants inside of their apartments. When the officer
contacted Budz on the phone he explained the ordinance to her and at this
point Budz used profanity towards the officer and advised the officer that
she was not going to turn on the heat for the tenants since they don’t pay
their rent. Budz hung up on the officer at this time. A short time later
Budz arrived at the building and was cited for the offense. Budz has a 23
December 2009 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse. The city ordinance
states the minimum temperature for a common heating plant to a residential
building at this time of year be 65 degrees from 11p.m. to 6:30a.m., and 70
degrees from 6:30a.m. to 11p.m.
05 December – Disorderly
Conduct
Talman L. Dean M/25yoa, LKA 7917 S. Green, Chicago, Ill was arrested for
disorderly conduct at the Best Western Motel after police responded to
reports of a naked male subject banging on motel doors. Upon arrival, the
officers located Dean in a room naked and Dean advised the officers that he
had in fact been knocking on doors. Dean who appeared intoxicated was
arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Dean has a 23 December 2009
court date at the Bridgeview court house.
