I have known Bill and his
wife, Terese, who predeceased Bill, since 1964 when I first came to
Burbank. He and I were involved with many of the same activities:
Holy Name, Knights of Columbus and a myriad of other activities
centering around St. Albert the Great Church and the City of
Burbank.
Bill, had energy and
drive which propelled him in many directions. For years, he served
as carnival chairman for the church. Nothing, however, commanded his
attention or passion more than donning his Santa suit, every
Christmas, and placing a child upon his knee to find out what
presents they wanted. Many Christmases, he would come to my house
and light up the eyes of my grandchildren and, I suspect, many of
yours when playing Santa. Since 1977, Bill was alderman of the 3rd
ward and during those 31 years served the people of his ward and all
of Burbank with the utmost honor and distinction. Bill will be
missed for his service to humanity and our city is a better place
because he came our way.
